".... it became apparent that local governments had a unique capacity to make real change while intimately knowing the people they were designed to serve. With this realization, Jacquelyn became hooked on working for local governments, and aspires one day to be a City Manager."
Spring and Summer are our favorite seasons. Not only do they represent nature's awakening and warm temperatures, but also new opportunities. And our exciting new opportunity is with a smart, focused and driven student intern from the University of Denver, CO.
ResourceX is proud to welcome Jackie English to our company and the priority based budgeting community. “PBB” is recognized as a leading practice by the International City/County Management Association (ICMA), the National League of Cities (NLC), the Government Finance Officer’s Association (GFOA) as well as the Alliance for Innovation.
PBB is now practiced by nearly 200 communities across the US and Canada. And as the PBB
Movement continues to rapidly grow, we remain focused on providing the highest level of customer support for the success of PBB implementation and application with our clients and partner organizations.
Jackie joins ResourceX as a Summer Intern. She is well versed in priority based budgeting, as she interned with the City of Greeley, CO, in 2017 when we partnered with the City in launching priority based budgeting. Her focus with ResourceX will include:
Analyzing PBB data from nearly 200 organizations across over 110,000 programs/services
Developing web content, social media engagement and new opportunities to showcase case studies
PBB event & 2018 PBB Bootcamp & Summit support
Contacting clients and partners to better understand successes and challenges in implementing PBB and applying PBB data
Growing the PBB community and help organizations benefit by applying the data
We asked Jackie to provide a little information about herself. Here is what she shared:
Jacquelyn English is a third-year student at the University of Denver studying Public Policy and Economics. In choosing these two degrees, she capitalized on her skills of understanding data and numbers and how they relate and apply to government and the real world. Additionally, Jacquelyn is minoring in Leadership Studies and a member of the Pioneer Leadership Program on campus. With an emphasis on being a community leader that can catalyze meaningful community change, this program aligns with her values of focusing policy efforts at the local and community level.
She garnered interest for interning with ResourceX through working in the City of Greeley Finance Department, where she helped the city implement Priority Based Budgeting. After spending much of her time growing up in Greeley, CO, Jacquelyn developed a love of her city and an interest in the power of local government. To her, after participating in a high school summer internship program between the City of Greeley and her STEM high school, it became apparent that local governments had a unique capacity to make real change while intimately knowing the people they were designed to serve. With this realization, Jacquelyn became hooked on working for local governments, and aspires one day to be a City Manager.
Fascinated by how to best finance policies at a local level that align with any given city’s priorities, she is excited to intern with ResourceX to further learn how to navigate financial systems for community benefit. Outside of going to school, she in an avid-dog lover and a baseball fan, especially the Colorado Rockies.
Welcome Jackie to ResourceX and the greater PBB community! To meet Jackie, and find out more about PBB, join us in Denver this August for the 2018 PBB Bootcamp & Summit!
